Food processing & Hydrogenation: Bangladesh

For a edible oil factory in Bangladesh, HyGear has developed

Renewable heat for greenhouses

A large number of greenhouses in Middenmeer, Netherlands are sustainably heated by the 19.6 MWth hot water boiler plant, turn-key built by HoSt for Energie Combinatie Wieringermeer (ECW), a fusion of Agriport greenhouse growers who want to contribute to a sustainable energy supply in the greenhouse horticulture area. The 15 MWth fire tube hot water boiler, in combination with the flue gas condenser, delivers a total of 19.6 MWth and ensures an efficiency of no less than 118%.

The greenhouse horticulture companies located on the Agriport site are not the only ones who invest in heating the greenhouses with renewable heat. A little further in the “Het Grootslag” area in Andijk, HoSt realized a 15 MWth biomass combined heat and power plant. HoSt owns and operates this installation in this ‘Energy as a Service’ model and supplies renewable heat to six greenhouse horticultural companies.

Food processing & hydrogenation

Hydrogenation transforms liquid oils into solid fats in food processing. This boosts product stability and extends shelf life, foods stay fresh longer. Additionally texture improves in products like margarine and baked goods. The process works by adding hydrogen to unsaturated fats. Food makers depend on hydrogenation for consistent product quality. Without it, many everyday foods would have different textures and shorter shelf lives.
